has anyone waited in line for video game consoles? Options

i'm contemplating going to best buy at 4 am to get a PS3. apparently there are gonna be security guards there to make sure no one shows up before then. i have no idea how this works. when the doors open is there gonna be a stampede, or will the be some sort of order? i have little interest in waiting there several hours only to be trampled by a bunch of nerds. if someone behind me runs past me, i'm beating the shit out of em right in the middle of the store

most of these listings are of the $1.00 starting bid/no reserve variety. the bidders are pushing them up into the stratosphere pricewise. it's not like these sellers are pricing these $2500 BIN with no OBO feature. that would be artificially inflating the demand (and price) because the buyer would have no cheaper alternative.

if you want to blame someone, blame Sony for severely undercutting the supply. that is what is artificially inflating demand

speaking of which, why the hell would sony or microsoft do this? it isn't like a video game console is some kind of limited edition collectible, or at least it shouldn't be. for all intents and purposes, it's a mass produced retail item
