[Throwdown]

i'm absolutely sick of hearing about how amazing the SEC is and how pitiful the Big East is

people need to wake up and realize a few things. until thursday night, the Big East was the only conference in the country with three unbeaten teams. i realize that their shitty teams might be slightly shittier than bottom dwellers from other conferences, but who cares? to quote Colin Cowherd, you can't judge the architectural beauty of Chicago by a few crappy strip malls in the ghetto. you judge by the cream of the crop.

and i know the vaunted SEC has the history, the rivalries, the 100k capacity stadiums, etc, but i also know they have absolutely zero one loss teams. i don't care how good the conference is, if you can't get through it undefeated you have no business playing for a national championship - especially if there are undefeated teams from BCS CONFERENCES. to me, the SEC is nothing more than an above average conference with a bunch of above average teams.

if a one loss Auburn or Texas team goes to the BCS championship over an undefeated Louisville team (who, coincidentally, will have had to beat a #3 undefeated team and another undefeated team at the end of the season) i might seriously contemplate quitting college football. what horseshit. sorry Auburn, you shouldn't have gotten your asses kicked by Arkansas. sorry Texas, you shouldn't have gotten dominated by OSU on national tv. better luck next year. maybe then you might actually not lose a game and be deserving

The idea of a rematch for UT just leaves a bad taste in my mouth, especially since the loss to OSU was not close at all.


But really its not worth getting too much into until "The Game" happens, and then the conference champions play, and the National Championship matchup is declared.

See, I can understand where you're coming from but Ohio State rolled into Austin and defeated Texas in Colt McCoy's second collegiate start. That's enough, in my eyes, to give them a pass.

Touche`, but you forget that last year when the whorns went to Columbus, Tressel was still looking for his starting quarterback. Troy Smith didnt come in until the second quarter/half if i remember correctly because Zwick was sucking so bad. This argument is a push at best. When you have two quarterbacks, you have no quarterback.

1. Jim Tressel wasn't "still looking" for his starting quarterback. He know exactly where he was: the doghouse.

Troy Smith didn't start against Texas because he had been suspended for the Buckeye's previous two games for accepting money from boosters. He did not play in the 2004 Alamo Bowl or the 2005 season opener against Miami of Ohio. Justin Zwick was a junior when he faced off against Texas and had already attempted over 200 passes.

Colt McCoy, on the other hand, was a redshirt freshman who had attempted a sum total of 19 passes against North Texas before suiting up against the Buckeyes.

2. Also, the 2005 Ohio State had nine players drafted in the 2006 NFL Draft. FIVE of those players went in the first round. By comparison, Texas had six players drafted and only two of those went in the first round.

What I'm saying is that Texas was/is a strong team who was hobbled by a quarterback who (at the time) was inexperienced. The same cannot be said for Ohio State last year, Zwick was plenty experienced and had a shit-ton of experienced talent around him.
