QUOTE A man was escorted from a gym by police – for grunting while working out.
Albert Argibay was thrown out of the Planet Fitness gym in Wappingers Falls, New York state after the gym's manager called the cops as she tried to make him leave. Planet Fitness say that they have very strict rules on grunting, as well as on wearing bandanas and dropping weights. It's all part of creating what they call a 'Judgment Free Zone' to make the gym more attractive to novice exercisers. They even have a 'lunk alarm which goes off when somebody does something wrong. The gym claims that Argibay got aggressive when asked to leave for grunting, which is when they called the police. Argibay denies that he did so, and wants an apology from the gym. 'It's an attack on my character, and it's very embarrasing, and an insult,' he said. The gym's manager, Carol Palazzolo, defended her actions: 'He was looking directly at me and he did it four times. I'm not a doctor, but as far as I know, a grunt is a noise that comes out of one's body that is loud and is intimidating.' Why being a doctor would have any bearing on the matter isn't clear. 'Perhaps I grunted, perhaps I didn't. It's open to interpretation,' was Argibay's take on the matter. He added: 'It's an embarrassing situation to be in, over a grunt.' Wappingers Falls police confirmed that their officers responded to call to 'escort a member out of the club for grunting while working out.' -------------------- Holy shit, pebkac, you're awesome! QUOTE Planet Fitness strives to promote health in a respectful atmosphere. For over a decade, Planet Fitness has gone to great lengths to provide its members with a friendly space to work out. We call it the Judgment Free Zone. We discourage weight dropping and obnoxious grunting so you can focus on your own workout and not the person next to you. all it says is obnoxious grunting. so does that mean if i find any grunting obnoxious and someone grunts i can have them removed? -------------------- |
