There is an old game I want to play, called Betrayal At Krondor, that refuses to run on windows XP due to it's 16 bit nature. Oh, and the fact that it is a DOS game. So instead of booting up my old machine that's locked deep away in my closet and switching back and forth from it to my main, I think it would easier to just have two operating systems on this computer. However, I'm not entirely sure how to do that. I know some of you guys have done it before and was wondering if I could get a little advice.

QUOTE (zetec @ Mar 3 2006, 06:05 PM) A) have you tried using compatibility settings first? right click on the application and go to properties, it's under there. C) google the game online, there's a chance that someone has an XP/2000 fix for it. Lots of classic games (BaK definately qualifies as a popular one) have a good amount of devotees out there that'll reverse engineer them until they find a way to make them work. D) Look for a win95 emulator, or perhaps an image to use with a virtual pc application. Yeah, I absolutely could not get BAK to work. I tried the compatibility under properties. I tried editing the config.nt and autoexec.nt files, that did not work. I've searched far and wide, and I finally discovered that SP2 makes it impossible to run the game via XP. Is there anyway to run an older computer through a newer one? -------------------- ![]() |
