I've heard of some high expectations from nearing grads and was wondering what kind of starting pay you expect to make right out of college.

Also, what is the absolute minimal salary you would accept and what kind of industry do you want work in?

I just wish Dallas would get rid of the toll roads, toll roads are un-American. We only have one free major north/south highway and that's 75. They need to open up the Dallas North Tollway to the public.

You can't tell me 10-15 years of tolls hasn't paid for the construction yet.

They are still expanding it to the North. I think eventually it is supposed to serve as an alternate route to Oklahoma.

I dont think Dallas is as bad as ya'll describe. The people do drive crazy but you can easily live/work in one part of town and use very little highway. I guess this would be easier in the suburbs. Also the rail system is pretty good for getting downtown if you don't want to fight the traffic.

See that doesn't work for me. I have to travel to and from clients which means I must use the freeway system here. It is a poorly planned metroplex. It expanded way too quickly for them to do anything about it so now they're just trying to get by. The problem with living in one area and working there is that for some it isn't economically feasible, aka, downtown, uptown, and highland park, they're close to work for some but almost impossible to afford. Then you have the idiots who live in Ft. Worth but drive to Dallas for work everyday. Doesn't make any sense. They could at least ride the TRE from downtown to downtown, but nope, they've gotta drive.

It's a suburban area that doesn't want freeways but doesn't want to wait in traffic to get to work. Hell, just tonight on the news they announced one community's disgust that a public transportation train would be using the tracks near their community. In my opinion, cities that closely border Dallas proper (Irving, Richardson, Oak Cliff, etc.) should be annexed by the city of Dallas so that some kind of organization can be brought upon the confusion.

What they do not realize (or maybe they do) is that they are creating more chaos by moving the Cowboys to Arlington. It's already a day trip just to get down there during a normal work day, let alone during a baseball game or during the summer. 161 will open up in a couple of years but that will barely help. 360 is a poor excuse for a highway, especially since you can't actually exit directly onto 30. It's just a mess and they aren't doing anything to fix it.

Oh, and has anyone noticed that you can only go west on 183 from 121 (they merge but there is no way to go eastbound on 183 from it).

By the way, I-30 used to be a tollroad. I was talking to an older man that lived in Ft. Worth most of his life and he was telling me how they decided to open it up to regular traffic after congestion got so bad on I-20. I don't know how true that is but if anyone knows anything about it I'd love to read it.

I guess I am really inspired by Europe and how they deal with transportation and growing cities. People barely drive in most major cities, they take trains, buses, and walk. It's a great way to live.

well if you look at europe it operates almost exactly like our new england area does. it wouldn't be economically feasible in a place like dallas or houston to do subways & trains. dallas & houston are way too spread out for these types of transportation.
