Having an offense that is figured out really isn't an issue at all. If you watch any team play, it doesn't take long to figure out what they are going to do.

UT has 1 running play it seems. Let's all block one direction, and let the back either follow it, or do something ZANY like cut the other direction, opposite of the blocks !!!!!!!!!!! groundbreaking.

It works (when it works....people are figuring it out rather easily recently. Just have the DE stay home) not generally because the defense is blown away by a witty play - but because everybody executes properly. Just because you know what is going to happen doesn't mean that will make up for a better athlete straight up burning you.

Confusing plays are a bonus, but when it comes down to it, 11 people doing their job correctly is how you win.


If Harrell doesn't evaluate the defense and then make the right decision to throw to the right person - at the right time, this is what happens. Interceptions and incompletions are a calculated risk with this kind of "pass happy" offense. But really it is asking for the whole team to be spot on. A good pass isn't shit if the receiver isn't going to catch it. 5 open receivers don't mean shit if the QB can't make a clean throw.


It may be worth letting Todd control some series next week against Iowa St. I wouldn't start him against UT or anything over Harrell, but it would be nice to make him a little more comfortable and experienced, in case he does need to come in for that game.
