Civil War In Iraq Options

Personally, I am all for this. Let's let the sectarian violence escalate, pull our boys out, let the Iraqis duke it out, and whoever comes out on top, they proved themselves and we just leave it alone.

A civil war does not directly affect this country. It effects the countries in the Middle East and should give them a swift kick in the rear to take part in their surroundings and help.

you know, i once felt that the war was about oil. i read a lot of articles and TRIED to educate myself (hard to do seeing as how no one on these boards and few in the media know the full picture). I talked with soldiers that fought over there too to hear their take on it. After reading what I did, I just dont find the conclusive evidence that some say there is to believe the war is about oil. Oil prices went UP after we invaded Iraq. The govt does not want high oil prices because that lessens consumer spending. When oil prices are high, our economy is weak. Yeah, oil prices are falling now, but what about a month ago when it was nearly 3.00 in TEXAS WHERE WE HAVE SOME OF THE CHEAPEST GAS PRICES. Oil is going to be an issue with any war fought in the middle east, but to say a big reason we invaded Iraq was to gain an oil foothold in the middle east is somewhat ignorant and hippie in my opinion.

Remember, the ends aren't the means. Bush might have still invaded the country for oil, but that doesn't mean things worked out as he planned. Irregardless, I don't think that the war was fought soley over oil, but I do believe that it was a contributing factor. I think the biggest factor was a bad case of confirmation bias. Bush wanted to believe that Saddam was a threat, thus he construed the evidence in such a way that it would confirm that belief.

Clinton didnt do it, Bush Sr. didnt do it. Bush jr stepped up and did it.

Yes, Bush jr used the fear of the American people to invade Iraq but at the same time I think our world is a lot better off without that wacko in power. I do think we were tricked into going to war, but the underlying reason was legitimate. Iraq was a ticking timebomb. Same with North Korea and Iran, but those situations have to be handled a lot more carefully.

So keep babbling on and on about oil and the whole Bush agenda. Unless you (speaking generally) can come up with legitimate articles to back up your claim (in other words not a fat, white trash, pos with the initials M.M.) then you are making yourself out to be ignorant.

I don't think there's very many people out there in the American public who liked Saddam very much. It's not a matter of whether Saddam should have been taken out so much as it was an issue of when, how, and whether or not it was feasible to, which I don't believe it was.

Saddam needed to be taken out by the international community, not by the United States unilaterally.
