hmm... blanket statement with no real evidence to back it up (that is unless you know the majority of wow players.  also kinda funny how you said "A majority", doesn't really make any sense (unless there's more than one majority of wow players who are "socially inept").  Not a great start for a philosopher.


Coming from someone who's never played the game... again... I think your philosophy professors would be upset... but what do I know, I'm supposedly "weak minded" (wonderful philosophical argument btw).  I suppose you could give some detail as to what you believe is easy?


So playing video games with your friends in person is different how?  How would you suggest I socially interact with my friends who don't live in town?  I don't think I could interact with them any better than playing the same game and talking to them on a headset.  Also how exactly is you playing Bond or NHL 2K with your friends not using video games "as a social outlet"?  Lastly what would you say to someone who could interact with and make friends with people they don't know, AND still goes out with their friends several times a week?  I suppose being graduated and working (without having homework and studying) I have more free time than a college student would, but it would seem to me if you could do both you'd actually have social interaction with more people than someone who didn't play online games.


So... having 40 people you don't know all talk and work together in a game is weak minded?  And every bit of entertainment on the planet (games/movies/music/etc) is designed to suck people in.  You think a game designer, movie director, or song writer is out there thinking... "hmm... well I don't want too many people to be interested in my work..."?


You have no problems with people playing a game when they're bored.  Hmm... I'm trying to think of any other time when one would play a game.


Once again I think the philosophy professors would be upset.  Giving "missing class" as a reason to bag on WoW makes no sense at all.  It's right up there with the "guns kill people" and "i'm suing mcdonalds for making me fat" arguments.  A person is late for or misses class because they choose to, not because they played a game, or went out and got wasted the night before.

It's ironic to me how some of you guys say a person can have no social life and no friends on the computer, and yet still actively participate in this community online.  Whether you love me or hate me, the vast majority of people on here have never met me (or very few times), and yet we still socially interact on a daily basis.  Of course there's your people who play for 12 hours a day, which is bad for your health/life/etc, but it's no different than someone who stares at myspace all day, or watches tv all day.

Your first paragraph about "the majority" is fucking dumb. Take a lesson in English there, buddy. That sentence makes sense. WoW players is one group of people.... the majority of which are socially inept. Dont be such a homo.

Umm I have seen the game enough to have an opinion. I sat and watched hours upon hours upon hours of it being played. I never touched the keyboard and mouse when it was on...that you are correct on; however, I think I have enough exposure to the game to have an opinion.

Im not reading the rest because your first two paragraphs, as usual, were stupid enough. You can pick on my degree all day long. I dont care. The fact of the matter remains that you have the most pathetic arguing skills on these boards and you try to make me look like an idiot to validate your point. Here is a lesson in philosophy...thats a horrible arguing style...rather than hitting my points dead on, you feel the need to devalidate me. Thats cool. I can take it.
