A majority of WoW players are socially inept. sorry to say it, but its true.

hmm... blanket statement with no real evidence to back it up (that is unless you know the majority of wow players. also kinda funny how you said "A majority", doesn't really make any sense (unless there's more than one majority of wow players who are "socially inept"). Not a great start for a philosopher.

Additionally, I dont think the game is hard at all.

Coming from someone who's never played the game... again... I think your philosophy professors would be upset... but what do I know, I'm supposedly "weak minded" (wonderful philosophical argument btw). I suppose you could give some detail as to what you believe is easy?

Im not one for video games at all really. Ill occassionally play some multiplayer XBOX games like ESPN NHL 2K_ or Bond or something with my friends IN PERSON, but a lot of people use WoW as a social outlet and well...

So playing video games with your friends in person is different how? How would you suggest I socially interact with my friends who don't live in town? I don't think I could interact with them any better than playing the same game and talking to them on a headset. Also how exactly is you playing Bond or NHL 2K with your friends not using video games "as a social outlet"? Lastly what would you say to someone who could interact with and make friends with people they don't know, AND still goes out with their friends several times a week? I suppose being graduated and working (without having homework and studying) I have more free time than a college student would, but it would seem to me if you could do both you'd actually have social interaction with more people than someone who didn't play online games.

So... having 40 people you don't know all talk and work together in a game is weak minded? And every bit of entertainment on the planet (games/movies/music/etc) is designed to suck people in. You think a game designer, movie director, or song writer is out there thinking... "hmm... well I don't want too many people to be interested in my work..."?

I have no qualms with the people who play it when they are bored or have nothing else to do because we all have our little hobbies to do when we are bored... like me posting on Techsans.

You have no problems with people playing a game when they're bored. Hmm... I'm trying to think of any other time when one would play a game.

I do see a problem with people who stay up all hours of the night playing and then miss class, or do that instead of going out with their friends or making real life friends. Yeah, gay.

Once again I think the philosophy professors would be upset. Giving "missing class" as a reason to bag on WoW makes no sense at all. It's right up there with the "guns kill people" and "i'm suing mcdonalds for making me fat" arguments. A person is late for or misses class because they choose to, not because they played a game, or went out and got wasted the night before.

It's ironic to me how some of you guys say a person can have no social life and no friends on the computer, and yet still actively participate in this community online. Whether you love me or hate me, the vast majority of people on here have never met me (or very few times), and yet we still socially interact on a daily basis. Of course there's your people who play for 12 hours a day, which is bad for your health/life/etc, but it's no different than someone who stares at myspace all day, or watches tv all day.
