ps2 vs xbox, which is better? Options

ok so i know the xbox 360 is out now...and the ps3 will probably be out soon too, but i'm just wondering which out of these two is usually considered better?

i may pick one up. the main game i'm interested in is ncaa football, but i'm sure i'd get more down the road.

I think with the regular XBOX you have to buy a special remote in order to play DVD's. It kinda looks like your standard DVD remote except its black and has fewer buttons. I think you can get them for like $30 max. If you mod your XBOX, you dont have to buy that remote because the XBOX acts like a media center so will have buttons on the screen that you can use the joy sticks on the regular controller to scroll over to; however modding an XBOX 1.6 is a bitch. I know its been done, but not by anyone that I know.

edit: I know you are in a different country, but if they have any used game shops there, you can get that "dongle" remote for dirt cheep. Typically, XBOX dvd players have had WAY fewer problems than PS2 dvd players. Keep that in mind. NOTE I SAID TYPICALLY

Yeah, XBox DVD players typically are better.

However, I've known XBox's to do some funky shit in the middle of playing a DVD. Fast forwards by itself, changes audio in the middle of a movie, won't change audio no matter what you try to do, show half of the subtitles.

I've never had a problem with my PS2 or any of it's functions. I guess I'm lucky in that respect.
