Ok, so I'm buying a new computer. I initially wanted to buy one of the new intel macs, but found that I could be literally getting twice the computer for the same price as one of the new intel iMacs. Thus I've decided on Alienware. My main question is which is better performance-wise:
Intel® Pentium® D Processor 930 withDual Core Technology or AMD Athlon™ 64 3200+ Processor -------------------- Holy shit, pebkac, you're awesome! QUOTE (pebkac @ Jul 13 2006, 12:50 PM) Ok, so I'm buying a new computer. My main question is which is better performance-wise: Intel® Pentium® D Processor 930 withDual Core Technology or AMD Athlon™ 64 3200+ Processor The Pentium D will be good for multi tasking. Will run very fucking hot. I don't know what CPU cooler they will use but you may have to get a better cooler for it. The AMD will be good for raw power on one application. http://www.cyberpowerpc.com/ is an ok site for building a computer... they will swap out parts/ upgrade the parts you select which can be good and bad. You going to want to SLI or CrossFire video card? |
