I am thinking about getting a portable external harddrive. Does anyone have any experience with these? If you don't know what I am talking about they are those 2.5" external 5400 RPM harddrives that use USB for power.

well like i said theyre all "portable"

id suggest going by high tech to look at the ones they have. i know doug is there, and jared, and will is the manager if you want to speak to someone in particular. you can check out the size difference (really not that much compared to how much money you save) and then of course they have the educational discount pricing, so that might help your decision too.

Oh. I don't go to Tech anymore...

I have 200GB external and it's just a pain in the butt to take anywhere. It has its own power supply, big long cables, etc. whereas these caviar drives don't have that and can be held in a laptop bag.
