Bit of a misnomer... it's not a vaccine for cancer. It's a vaccine for the strains 16 and 18 of Human Papillomavirus (HPV), which cause about 70% of cervical cancer. Other strains cause the remaining 30%. The same strains also cause anal cancer.
Other strains of HPV cause common warts, genital warts, and various other conditions. Looking at the article again, it looks like it's also effective against the two strains of HPV (dunno which #'s) that cause 90% of genital warts. -------------------- |
