So I'm looking at two different routes for going from Albuquerque to Austin... one is a route I've done before, which goes through Lubbock (I-40, 84 most of the way). The other is longer, but supposedly faster... goes south through NM to hit I-10 in El Paso and take that most of the way to Austin. I've never driven I-10, what's it like? Is it in good condition, have a high speed limit? I'm inclined to take the second route just 'cause it won't be the same ol, same ol scenery.

i-10 is fairly quick

on the news last night they said the speed limit will be raised to 80 from outside el paso to basically san antonio

if you take i-10, get gas in El Paso, then Ft. Stockton, then maybe junction

Drive from ep to sa is about 8 hours + about 1.5 to austin

I-10 is a good road, can't get lost from the lil shit towns off of it. you'll only hit a BP station outside el paso...twice (one in NM and one about 1.5 hours outside EP)
