My Personal Apology Options

Hey Techsans members,

I wanted to drop in and apologize personally for the unscheduled / unplanned downtime in the last 7 days. Im not the type of person who is not aware of whats going on with websites I host, a lot of the sites I am an active member of or at least browse through every now and then and post in the forums.

The story in a nutshell is that the main engagedhost servers hard drive decided to take a dump while i was sleeping and since that point it has been hell trying to get it back online. After replacing the drive it crashed again, then the network card fried, then the firewall. After all of that was replaced, the server came up momentarily until the DNS decided to go crazy, the hard drive booted in read-only mode and that was probably the worst of it.

I pretty much spend every hour of every day arguing with the colo technicians, reconfiguring and reinstalling everything needed to get things back up. I had to manually restore everything and trust me... it wasnt fun. The server has been moved to a new part of the datacenter and all of the hardware swapped into a new server.

In the three years Engagedhost has been online this has never happened and i know that i am personally liable for the downtime even though the cause was repeated hardware failures.

Lance did not ask me to come in here, i did it on my own but like i said...i wanted to personally apoligize about the downtime you experienced in the past week and i am spending most of my day doing system checks, backups, and upgrades to try and ensure it doesnt happen again.
