Former Tech student receives maximum sentence, for child porn Options

A former Texas Tech student who pled guilty to possessing child pornography received the maximum punishment Friday in the U.S. District Court in Lubbock.

Cole Cosby, 23, will spend 10 years in federal prison for having 13,664 sexually explicit images and videos of children, some toddler-age, stored on his home computer, according to a statement released by the Texas Attorney General's Office. It is the largest child pornography case ever investigated by the unit.

"The case against Cole Cosby is one of the most disturbing cases ever investigated by my Cyber Crimes Unit," Attorney General Greg Abbott said in a statement.

Cosby was caught after complaints were made to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children about child pornography posted online.

Cosby is out on bond but must turn himself in on May 5 to begin his sentence.

At the time of the investigation, Cosby was a psychology major at Tech.

A friend of mine worked for the FBI while in Lubbock. One day he told me with a disgruntled look on his face, that he had to go through shitloads of kiddie porn images and verify each one that morning.
