i agree, there should be a test and credentials before owning a firearm, but all that does is give firearms that "unattainable" feeling

like prohibition, i believe that those people who are irresponsible with firearms and treat them as toys in the first place would only try harder to get their hands on one just to show off that they DO have one.

and it still doesn't fix the fact that if a criminal wants a gun, he can find someone dirty to get him a gun. doesn't solve anything, and merely provokes the situation further.
