I've been thinking about this hiring and have to admit I've been going back and forth about it.

I can see how Tech could lose credibility with this move (especially in academia), but I can also see how nice it is to get a high profile individual teaching at Tech -- even if his political affiliation and methods I might disagree with.

It's a shame that he is only doing a lecture for a class of 15 -- I guess even in hyperconservative country he is afraid of some sort of backlash if he opened it up to a larger crowd.
