I was thinking about switching to completely watching television via the internet and not getting cable. I figured there is a flood of stuff on Hulu + projectfreetv + surfthechannel, that the only reason why I would want to keep cable is to watch live sports which I think I could go to a friends house to see since I don't watch them that regularly.
Just wondering if anyone's "made the switch" or done something similar and had any thoughts about it.... -------------------- ![]() |

I have been trying to get rid of cable for a while but can't seem to do it, mostly because of college football. My wife went to Texas and would probably go crazy if she wasn't able to watch the football games (she's more into Texas football than most people).
With Hulu, I've been playing with Boxee and though it's not well supported, it still works for me. Most of the shows I watch are on network television (House, The Office, the news), with the exception of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia and South Park. blaarg, aren't you in Europe? How do you watch Hulu? I tried to watch it while I was in Frankfurt this past weekend and had to use a proxy in the U.S. It messed with the speeds a bit. I know I'll get flamed for this, but the AppleTV seems like a good choice for what I want. I can watch local news, then download a show I want to watch (or use Boxee), or put in on my iPhone for travel, the only downside is that I still would not get college football. -------------------- "There is a level of cowardice lower than that of the conformist: that of the fashionable non-conformist." |
