The only practical application for E85. I got my car to run it. Not because it has environmental benefits or help ween us off foreign oil because it doesn't and it won't, but this:
91 octane gasoline  E85  Who knew that in an attempt to save the environment, they created street legal race fuel. Anyways, the dyno reads a little low, plus 6000ft elevation robs the power. A 2006 Z06 Corvette(505hp says Chevrolet) puts down 406 wheel hosepower on this particular dyno. -------------------- Beers that I have had, updated July 5th, 2009: 1,548

I know for a fact that my truck ran like shit with E85 and it was designed to use it. I went from 20mpg highway to about 15, and there was considerably less power. I think just timing changes aren't really enough to make up for the difference in fuel. Probably just means that "flex fuel" = it can use the stuff, not that it's going to take full advantage of it. I have seen articles where people did their own modifications to their car and got really good results from it.
I have gotten really good results from using 93 octane with a programmer. It has a road gear so it's not like I'm able to boil the tires, but the sucker will do 30-100 in no time. |
