So, I'm trying to think of an example that would be close to the situation that AIG is facing to get a gauge on this particular situation.
Let's pretend that Brinker International Restaurants(Chili's, Maggiano's, On the Border, and Romano's Macaroni Grill) got a bailout with your tax dollars because they're in financial trouble. So, let's also pretend that one of their concepts was the main cause for all their profit loss, On the Border in this hypothetical case. So, On the Border has such massive losses that it causes Brinker to have to report a loss for the fiscal year. Now, let's just say that you work for Chili's and don't really have any connection to On the Border because that's a different division. You've been doing your job and Chili's, Romano's, and Maggiano's not only made budget, but actually had profit for the last year. Should you get bonus, along with the guys from Romano's and Maggiano's? -------------------- Beers that I have had, updated July 5th, 2009: 1,548

Impala, you idiot. EVERYONE got a bonus. Not just the executives. The question should be this: Would they have paid out a bonus if they got a multi billion dollar loan?
NO. Now, stop trying to play the "well you guys don't know the details" bullshit and actually put forth an argument. -------------------- ![]() |

"everybody got a bonus" is not details. And until you have them your senseless bitching about the goings on of a company you know jack shit about makes you the good little sheep Obama wants you to be. baaaaaa! |

This is what I know, Impala: Bonuses were paid out at AIG and in the sum of $165 million. That amount was divied up amongst its employees depending on their contracts. That's all the details anybody needs. So I ask again, should AIG have paid out bonuses? Do you think that is irresponsible? Should AIG consider our tax dollars as cash in their pocket or should they have treated it as a loan? The american people have cause to be outraged. And not just at AIG. -------------------- ![]() |

Uhm.....Actually the $165 million was paid to the top executives. There is at least another $900 million that has been paid to the lower level employees. I do think that people have cause to be outraged, but the scale of this is like giving a family $10 and criticizing how they spent $0.01 of it. -------------------- Beers that I have had, updated July 5th, 2009: 1,548

Yeah I barked up that tree earlier in the thread and it didn't sit well apparently... good thinking though. And very interesting find on that resignation letter. |
