pretty convienient when put into context of our current situation.

(going for a very summerized version of my thoughts, for those people with short attention spans)

you can't really introduce a entirely new energy system when everything and everyone is so dependant on fossil fuels. so many jobs depend on it, companies, politians special interests, etc... unless you created the just-right circumstances.

1. secretly find new energy source

2. create an unstable situation to panic the populace so that they will vote in a moron who promises more than he can deliver.

3. populace is freaked by the crisis, will allow just about anything to be passed if it promises to fix the situation.

4. said moron spends 9 trillion, among which will be cleverly laundered programs for future agenda, impossible to trace and track easily.

5. the new energy source is miraculously discovered just in the nick of time, populace rejoices, populace is now the driving force to push the necessary buttons to speed the change. (instead of being the most threatening opposing force to the change)

6. complete chaos in the job market as people play a game of "musical chairs" to secure their new place among society. (of course the opportunist's who engineered this entire operation are already poised to legal take their seats in said game.)
