They're going to vote on putting a resolution through to impose a 90% (yes, nine zero) on the AIG bonuses. This is absolutely preposterous, and turning to socialism at its finest.

QUOTE
President Barack Obama, who took office just under two months ago, told reporters Wednesday that his administration was not responsible for a lack of federal supervision of AIG that preceded the company’s demise. But Obama added, “The buck stops with me.” Obama said his administration was consulting with Congress on creating a new “resolution authority” to seize giant institutions like AIG — including all their toxic assets — whose collapse in normal bankruptcy could cause calamity in the financial markets.

So, not only does he say he's not responsible for the bill he signed, but feels he's justified in creating a new bureaucratic structure for the purpose of seizing private institutions!??! This sets a precedent for our democrat pres/congress combo that scares the hell outta me. What are they gonna do next? Tax the EIB network for everything they've got so they can shut down Rush Limbaugh?

I didn't fall for shit, you fell for the bailouts in the first place which should never have happened. If a private company accepts money from the federal government, guess what, that company is now pwn3d by the federal government. Moral of the story is that the government needs to stay out of private business even in times of a depression.

Wow.. can't believe I'm reading this coming from you. Companies accept money from the federal government all the time in the form of tax cuts, so now what do we do under your "pwn3d" system? Does company X get to write off an extra $10 million if it accepts some government watchman onto its board of directors? You're the conspiracy theorist and you can't make that connection?

Of course, and I agree, but you can't give a company money so they can keep it running, then bitch about how it gets spent. Keeping employees is kinda an important part of running a business. If you care that much about how it gets spent then you need to include that in your bill.

It's exactly the same thing. That's part of my point. You guys get so caught up and wowed by large numbers you don't see what Obama's doing. Nobody seems to even ask about where the other 99.9 billion went. You cant seem to think for yourselves. All someone has to do is get on TV and go "OMG eleventy billion dollars was handed on a silver platter to teh EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEVIL executives!" and you'll grab your pitchfork and pea sized brain and join in.

What the hell?

Of course I want to know what every cent of the $100 billion that mine and other taxpayers' dollars is being used for. The government should have never given out any money without closely monitoring what it was used for

And cut it out with the Obama bullshit. Remember what dipshit signed the $700 billion bailout....your homeboy Dubya

uh, wtf are you smoking. Bush didn't sign shit. He proposed the much, much smaller bailout idea. Obama is the one that turned it into what it is now and signed it.
