So if the oil companies are taxed more wont they just pass the costs along to me the consumer? I just can't see them getting taxed and it not affecting what I pay at the pump.

No, what I'm saying is that if they enact another windfall profits tax that essentially directly targets a few large companies, they'll just pack their bags up and invest more heavily overseas.

This time they will never come back, even if an even more pro-oil and gas Republican were to get into office in 8 years.

For some reason i doubt it. Most oil in the world is Nationalized, unless they go for new international drill sites. Mabye some deep drilling? I don't de downstream leaving, but going broke.
