back in the day, there was a thread that had a lot to say about this and i think i remembered some speculation about a possession/exorcism in lubbock.

anyone wanna remind me of what this was about? I finally saw the movie so now i'm kinda curious about what you guys had theorized. I believe that at least greg and cathryn were involved in this discussion.

the house next door to mine is the one in the story. its a pretty long one.
both my house and this house were built in the early 30's and this one is much bigger and does not appear to be remodeled yet it is old and rustic in still a nice way. the electricity seems to still be running on old glass transformers (i think thats the terminology) straight from wire to glass bulb to into the house.
i had never seen anyone exit or enter the house and never any trucks that would make a food delivery and i am up at all hours of the day and night at random times. when i moved in to my house there were two older model cars in their driveway. a couple of weeks later the city tagged the cars with tow stickers. not sure why im assuming because no one claimed them and they were junky cars and maybe it was a zoning issue. and they were later towed
the windows are boarded up from the INSIDE. there are some cracks in these old stained glass windows and if you look through them there are boxes and old style furniture everywhere. also every night theres a light on the second floor that is on. in the backyard there is a rock garden with a big iron cross in it and there was an angel statue. kind of creepy huh? well one night we are in my side yard and i jump the ~7ft stone fence that is between our two houses. im in the yard, i take that statue (its a heavy bitch) and i struggle to lift it above my head so i can get it over the fence and ask jared to take it the rest of the way down for me. in this struggle my foot slips on some timbers that line the fence. it makes a fairly loud noise and a bit of time passes and a light downstairs turns on. i think HOLY FUCK and get a bit frantic and continue to stumble over this fence myself now that Jared has the angel. i cant seem to get it and another light turns on in this houses covered sun patio type room. i think im going to get shot through my chest and im able to finally jump the fence and we all hurry inside. i dont believe it was a security light do to the timing and between the two lights turning on i did not make more noises.
upon more adventure with this house we discovered an old rosary hanging on the door facing the driveway. the metal bits were rusty, dirty, and some spider webs on it. the beads are real cool looking and its just a cool looking thing. im sure i was doomed to hell well before this but i took the rosary and its now hanging on my skeleton in my hallway to my bedroom. the running theme on the rosary was that it was holding whatever evil is inside the house... inside.
my next adventure is to take that big cross thats in the backyard.
ANOTHER thing is the large all wooden house/garage/barn looking building north of its driveway. its two stories and old dark wood with some busted out windows. it has stairs on the west side of it to the second floor and an old creepy door. i never see lights on in there and i really want to get up there one night but i have this thought that ill run in there and see it filled with chains and big meat hooks and get freaked out. its that freaky looking of a place.
we've had people stop by my house in the past to ask questions about that house. mostly if its for sale because its just a nice house. by this time we are curious of anything about the house so some ninjaing online and in the lubbock county public records shows that the house is a Homestead for tax purposes. that means it is not abandoned and someone declared this as their permanent residency. so someone has to live there the majority of the year. the title comes up and the name listed is Rex Rose. creeeepy as fuck since we get this the day before we plan to see this movie. and im not fucking kidding. the wood house in the back also resembles the farm house in Emily Rose.
my roommate John was leaving one afternoon said bye to me when i was in the living room hes in his car driving off when he turns around because he forgot something. on his way back home he sees someone he believe to be me in the house next doors front yard in the bushes. he says he sees my typical black hoodie and doggy print pants and sees this thing jump back in the bushes as he drives past. he thinks man the dogs must have got out! he walks in the house and sees me sitting on the couch and goes 'oooh fuck' and proceeds to tell me this story.
honestly for awhile i was scared a creepy child would pop up at my door in the middle of the night or that id wake up to find my dogs nailed to a tree and skinned. thankfully nothing like that has happened though i look forward to investigating this house further
