IF one spouse (either gender) is already in the military AND they have dependent children, then the other spouse shouldn't be drafted.
IF a woman in the military (or being drafted) is pregnant, she should not be on active combat duty. The same goes for any other condition, for either gender, that impairs their physical abilities to the point where they can't perform their duties properly.
IF a person is fit for combat (either gender), they can be drafted into a combat role. If they're better suited elsewhere (due to specialized education, for instance), then they probably should be in a specialized role rather than combat.
IF a person is unfit for combat (either gender), then they should be assessed to see where they best fit.


In general, I do not have a problem with women who choose to be stay-at-home mothers. I also do not have a problem with men who choose to be stay-at-home fathers. One or the other may be appropriate given the family's specific circumstances. But I do believe that, as a societal generality, we are moving towards an environment where women are expected to have all of the same rights and responsibilities as men. No, not every woman can perform the same tasks that most men can, or vice versa, but I believe that if we give women equal opportunity in the workplace, then they should have equal responsibility to serve their country in a time of need, to the best of their ability, even if their roles are generally different from those of men.

This is slightly off topic, but I've been thinking about stay-at-home mothers or fathers depending on the situation. Isn't it kind of a risky situation for anyone to be in? By anyone I mean the mother, father and the kids to be in? I don't really have a problem with what people decide to do with their lives, but this day and age, especially with divorce rate being so high, I feel like it is pretty big risk to take for anymore. If divorce doesn't strike you as a possibility (I hope it does), there are natural and unnatural deaths. Then whoever is alive is kind of screwed, the working mother or father may not be able to support their kids since they have lost their spouse. The stay-at-home mother or father may not be able to support the family either because of lack of income and job experience. The kids may have to worry about things they shouldn't have to worry about. Anyway, I guess I've been thinking about this for awhile now, I can't think of very many alternative arguments.
