I know! We'll make out hybrids fully electric! That'll show those oil companies AND save the world! Ha HAAA!

Then, we can drive them to the Al Gore Coal-Fired Powerplant protests, completley oblivious to the fact that the filthiest fuel on the planet powered our "green cars" to get to the protest!

We're SAVING THE WORLD!!!!! WooOOoOOoooOOOOOOOhoOoOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

The are several reasons why people are looking at electric cars as opposed to traditional gas-powered cars. Oil is a non-renewable resources, once you've used it up it's gone. In a car the conversion from oil to useful form of energy, from what I've heard, is roughly around 30%-ish. Electricity on the other hand can come from more than one source other than drilling, many of which that are being explored are from renewable resources such as wind, solar, nuclear, etc. California also has a "sell to the grid" system, I'm not sure of the name of it, but for those who produce their own power from renewable resources, you can sell it back to the grid if you don't use all of your electricity. And for sunny california that may be a lot of "extra" energy. Also storage of electricity at one large power plant may be more efficient than converting oil to energy for each and every single car.
