I just realized this after waking up from a wierd dream last night. I've never once died in a dream. I've gotten close, where someone is chasing me with a pickaxe or something, and right when he strikes I wake up. Same thing with sex. I'm always rounding third base with some hot chick then my alarm goes off. I've never actually scored with a broad in a dream. Sucks

Is this a common occurence?

i wish i could find the book i was reading this in, but it was talking about how the human mind was flawed. that it was completely incapable of comprehending a world without it's self in it somehow. dreams where you supposedly die always have you somehow over looking events that play out. supposedly no one has a dream where they actually, truelly die, that right when it is happening, they jolt awake because the mind rejects such an image.


i liked the book because of it's suggestion that this is why man invented religion. all religions have 1 thing in common:: an existance in some shape or form after death.

Unfortunately, that is not true. I have died in my dreams on several occasions. None of them watching myself die.

First time: Was falling into the grand canyon. Hit ground along side river. Dream went black for some amount of unknown time. Came to, got up walked some ways. Dream ended.

Second time: On a naval ship in a battle. Explosion knocked me into ocean. Was eaten by shark. Took awhile to die. Dream was black yet still was aware and questioned why I still had conscienceness. After a small amount of time of being incapacitated (no sight or sound) and bored, woke up.

Third time: Some sort of civil war era conflict. My squadron was ambushed and I was shot dead. Again, dream went black, but this time it restarted. Same dream but this time I tried something different. This happened several times in a Groundhog day like scenario until I eventually just fled the battlefield and survived. After short time of walking down a road, I awoke.

This does seem to be uncommon as I have yet to find anyone else with a similar experience. I do find it annoying of all the horribly wrong theories about what happens when one dies in a dream, though.

from what you're saying it doesn't disagree with what i said. even though you died, you still had some sort of awareness. and in those instances where you claim you "went black" you got up and walked away afterwards.

Correction: The first and third I did not have some kind of awareness. The second and third I did not get up and walk away.

Though I have a feeling what this is going to turn into. Your belief doesn't exactly match up to what happens in reality. Instead of accepting reality, you're going to try to tear it down because you can't accept that your belief can be wrong. This happens all the time. Mostly with religion though, so don't feel bad for following in their footsteps.
