McCain's VP, who's it gonna be? Options

I say Romney gets it, but the other talk is about Pawlenty and Lieberman, with some rumors a few days ago about Hutchison (Texan Senator). I bet it's all just talk to get things riled up and to get attention away from Obama though.

If I was a Hillary supporter I would be a little insulted at McCain's VP pick as an overt attempt to bring in "their" votes. If anything, I think it galvanizes them to vote for Obama a little bit (the idea of "throw a woman at them -- ANY woman"). I thought if you were going to pick a woman VP, Kay Bailey was probably the best choice of all of them who had their name in the hat.

*shrug* but what do I know -- I get my Republican analysis from my parents who said they were disappointed with the pick. Are Repubs probably going to lose/pick up votes with ANY VP selection, probably not (I don't know how many people honestly vote for the VP rather than the Pres anyways -- 2%?).

The Republican party as a whole is praising this pick and calling it brilliant. Even the pundits like Sean Hannity & Rush. I think they'll pick up more votes than you think with the pick. Remember, the Hillary voters severely disliked Obama. They were voting for Hillary because they related to her, not because of their devotion to the democrats. While you're right, people don't vote based on the VP, I think in this case it's changed a lot of people's view of the Republican ticket. Did your parents say why they were disappointed with the pick?

The whole "if John McCain dies would she be ready to step up" type thing -- you know the same thing they harp about with the inexperience of Obama. And let me explain the situation a bit better: they both love McCain and are definitely voting for him, but they do have reservations about his health, so for them this was a big "whaaaaaaaaaaaaat" moment. Granted this is my parents opinions and then don't have a techsans account (at least what I know) to defend their opinions and I am sure as hell not going to argue about this.

Here is the thing though that I wouldn't mind discussing: do Repubs on here really think that this was the best vp pick in the bunch? I'm not asking if it was a good pick, but the best one. For example, Biden I thought was a good pick but not necessarily the best one for Obama to take.
