we need a vice president who isn't afraid to call the republicans out. i feel as if the vice president somewhat fills that role and john edwards didn't do any of that 4 years ago. the democrats problem with elections is never being on the offense, but always defending and it's been proven to not work recently.
he counteracts everything that obama is not. for example biden is for the death penalty, and obama is not. if someone was using that alone to not vote for obama, then maybe now they could reconsider. he actually has a reasonable plan to bring the troops home and leave iraq stable. he provides the experience that everyone seems to be holding over obama's head. obama may be admitting a weakness by choosing biden, and that is what a politician should do. admit where he's weak and attack it. still think that hillary would have been a better choice, but biden would have been my second. curious to see what mccain does now. So other than the death penalty, where are biden and obama opposites? And honestly I don't see grabbing a running mate with opposite views as something that 'seals the deal'. If someone's key issue is the death penalty, they're not voting for Obama. Having a VP which is for it isn't going to change that. Though I don't see the death penalty as some key issue for many. And the current administration is already working on a plan to finish up in Iraq, no doubt we'll be hearing much more about that before the elections. |
