So El Paso is close to Juarez Mexico. This year there's been a drug war that's getting out of hand. So far in 08 about {edit}800+ homicides in Juarez alone.
So here's the situation. Thomason Hospital is the county hospital in El Paso, TX. What is happening is people are getting shot in Juarez and are being brought to the US (El Paso) to THomason hospital. At least 2x this year the hospital has been on lockdown with EPPD and Sherriff's guarding the perimeter of the hospital. Here are some stats form the article below:

We don't close off our borders because the drug trade is one of the biggest pocket liners for politicians. Just like the oil industry with its lobbyists.
