Haha. My start here (also government) was actually rather simple compared to when I was working at Applied Materials. There it took a good month before I had access to all the programs I needed. It was so bad that one of my parting acts was to write up a "New Hire Checklist" with a pretty complete list of all the trainings, form requests, and other crap they had to do to get set up.
And then one of the team leads proceeded to disbelieve me that his new hires had to complete the Intellectual Property training before they were allowed to get their badges. Anywho, the *really* fun part (sarcasm) about government jobs is waiting for all the security clearance stuff to come through. Here, at least, they allow us to work on classified stuff as soon as our interim clearance comes in. Sandia waited until full clearance.
