My boss at work informally assigned me to look into synchronization tools for Windows. The main scenario we're looking at is computers out in the field, where we'd be doing some data-processing on site and backing up data to external drives.
I dug around a little bit and found out about MS SyncToy, but does anyone have experience with this? Any other programs you might recommend? -------------------- |

Yeah, mainly it's just to simplify the process of backing up drives in the field. The usual process right now is to back up to two external drives per computer (two for protection against shipping snafus), but it's all done by hand. So not everything that gets changed on the computer necessarily gets updated on the external drive and the two externals may not end up identical... real pain in the ass.
I think I'll probably just push for my boss to try out SyncToy. It looks like it does everything we need it to (and it's free). This post has been edited by Spectatrix: Jul 23 2008, 03:36 PM -------------------- |
