Ok, I'll clarify my thoughts on the whole philosophy thing.

Basically everything I've ever talked to a philosophy major about in life, thought about, lied awake at night trying to figure out, etc .... whatever .... I thought of when I was between the ages of 14 and 20.

There was absolutley nothing left for philosophy to teach me in college. I seriously was laughing my ass off at all the people going "OMG! I've never thought like this before!" when my professor was likening the reason Socrates believed there was a god to why mankind built chairs. I mean I was literally like "uhhhh ... what? You've never questioned the existance of god before? life, nothing? Wow you live in a damp paper bag."

Egotistically, I freely admit ... I thought this all was far beneath the level of thought I was on.

If you want to talk about thinking outside the box ... That's usually the first place I think, because quite frankly, boxes are boring. However, most of the time, there's a reason that there are boxes. Boxes work. Deluding yourself into thinking that quasi-boxes, round boxes, slightly discolored boxes, whatever, work better than the regular old box ... well, statistically speaking is rare. There is a reason there are boxes and not oddly shaped quasiboxes.

See, when you're thinking outside the box, eventually you run out of boxes to think outside of, so you invent new boxes entirley. Then you think outside of them. I invented this new theory called the 'Puking Seed' theory when i was back in highschool, but that's a time for another discussion.

Anyways .... I guess I pretty much felt like if a dipshit like me was already on a plane of thought far beyond what this philosophy crap was supposed to be about I had no use for it whatsoever for it in life and it was pretty much just a load of hooey.

But what's really interesting is, if I go back to school to get a PhD in engineering I don't get an actual PhD in engineering, I get a "Doctorate of Philosophy".

you're still in the box because as soon as you got out of the box you built up another box around you
