what the heck does wages have to do with anything?

If i'm making the same this month that i was this month but gas prices continue to soar that hurts my pocket book.

But how long of a band aid is it? Would it help us for the next 50-100 years? We don't need a source of oil for the next 3,000 years. We just need one from now until alternative forms of energy take hold. When that is? Who knows. How long that oil up there will last? Not sure. I bet there's some number floating around here somewhere.

I don't have a source but there were analysts talking on cnn about how there is anywhere from 5 billion to 10 billion barrels of oil in Anwar and that it would reach peak production in about 10 years or so. I'm not saying that drilling in Anwar would not help but at what cost? Is destroying the pristine ecological environment worth it? The longer we continue to feed this addiction the worse it will get. Oil companies are not stupid, they want to make as much money off of oil before it runs dry. I say we need to devise and implement alternatives NOW.

Not if we secure a large new source.

The U.S. is pretty much explored as far as oil reserves go. Any oil that we find is going to be expensive to extract and small compared to reserves in other parts of the world.
