Then think of it in the business sense. Facebook wants people to use the site as much as possible to pull in ad revenue. So now someone can see that you're on and send you a text message. That alone could keep the person at the site for an extra 30 seconds. Hell could be 30 minutes. Multiply that by a giant number of users and that's a lot of ad revenue.

Ad revenue is not generated by "hits" anymore, it's generated by leads, people actually clicking the links. Facebook is slowly turning into MySpace, minus the viruses.
