Brazil possibly discovers huge oil reserve Options

SAO PAULO, Brazil — A deep-water exploration area off Brazil's coast could contain as much as 33 billion barrels of oil, the head of Brazil's National Petroleum Agency said today. That would make it the world's third-largest known oil reserve.

Haroldo Lima cautioned that his information on the field off the coast of Rio de Janeiro is unofficial and needs to be confirmed.

Geez... I sure wish we were allowed to drill in Alaska and find us a huge reserve. Oh well at least we're saving the bunny rabbits and moose population

we didn't drill ourselves back then because we didn't need to. we were actually exporting oil. and it doesn't really matter how friendly the people are that we import from. importing is buku more expensive.
well this is true, but either way the reason our prices are high is because we have to import in the first place. We didn't used to have to import any oil.

The US pretty much never exported oil, only during pre ww2 did it. I've worked in the Oil Industry and Dogmeat would be a good resource.

Bah, I was basing that off some data I'd found a while back, said something like we produced all the oil we consumed up until the late 80s or something. Looks like you're right though, everything I find now though correlates to what you're saying (around the 1940s or so).
