Ok so this article explains that Best Buy customers who purchased an HD DVD player before the end of February will receive a complimentary $50 gift card. That's neat... What I found even more interesting, though, was a link at the bottom of the page to a trade-in site run by Best Buy. they knocked 2 bucks off my quote but said they'd buy it. so it worked out for me.
