In a decision that is sending shock waves throughout the homeschooling community, the Second District Court of Appeal in Los Angeles ruled that all California students between the ages of 6 and 18 must attend either a private or public school full time until they graduate or be tutored by a credentialed teacher.

I just love it when government tries to parent other people's kids.

The ruling stems from a child welfare case against the Long family, who had been educating their eight children at home. The family hadn't been facing truancy charges, but the court decided to weigh in on homeschooling anyway. Obviously, there will be appeals.

This should be over-ruled by a higher court. Seems blatantly unconstitutional by interfering with a parent's right to raise their children. Completely retarded (normal for them i should say) ruling from california. If the legislature wishes to make sure that home schooled kids are up to par, they can, but the COURT acting as a legislature and making something "illegal" is ridiculous.
