What impala says is true. I have had several professors in the past who have orally stipulated that students were to receive NO help, consultation, discussion, etc from other students but were supposed to work on their homework assignments independently. However, I think that this strategy of "teaching" is completely useless. As long as a student is not directly copying homework who is to say that he/she is still nor learning? I am of the school of thought that not only do students gain knowledge from the professor but students can gain knowledge from each other and even the professor can gain knowledge from the students. If there is anything that I can't stand it is professors who think they are some sort of academic gods because they have DR in front of their name. Don't get me wrong, these men and women worked very hard to get where they are and have a wealth of valuable information and experience, but I think the kind of teaching style that led to the accusations of cheating in this article are pretentious. With that said, the student should not be charged with cheating but should fail the homework assignments given his conduct in relation to the oral/written instructions. So while I disagree with the ultimate decision and the teaching style I do think that the student should receive some sort of disciplinary action because of his conduct but he should not be expelled.

A psychotic world we live in. The madmen are in power. How long have we known this? Faced this? And--how many of us do know it? Perhaps if you know you are insane then you are not insane. Or you are becoming sane, finally. Waking up. I suppose only a few are aware of all this. Isolated persons here and there. But the broad masses... what do they think? All these hundreds of thousands in this city, here. Do they imagine that they live in a sane world? Or do they guess, glimpse, the truth...?
