You're an idiot if you think these fights are amusing.

First, the guys fighting are wearing body armor. What fun is this?

Second, they are fucking TERRIBLE at throwing punches overall.

Third ... have you ever tried throwing a punch on ice skates? It's virtually impossible to get any momentum behind it unless you can crow hawk a guy or some shit during a bench clear.

Fourth, it takes away from the game. I would _MUCH_ rather see somone throw an absolutley massive open ice hip check on somone and send their teeth flying out of their outh than watch what appears to be a bunch of girls slapping each other and eventally getting sent to the corner to pout.

Fighting in hockey is stupid, and as far as game strategy goes, it's probably only necessary %0.01 of the time it actually happens.

How stupid is it that they have a goal that the goalie completely fits into and is so stuffed with pads he can barely move. The guy moves like 4 inches and catches a puck and that's some amazing play. It's sad.
