He buzzed the tower What is really amazing is that he makes right at $500,000 a year.

being a commercial pilot is way difficult. not that the job is hard or all that stressful but the sheer amount of clocked flying hours you need is crazy. thats why TYPICALLY pilots are ex-air force or had family members with an aircraft/flight school

being a commercial pilot is way difficult. not that the job is hard or all that stressful but the sheer amount of clocked flying hours you need is crazy. thats why TYPICALLY pilots are ex-air force or had family members with an aircraft/flight school (had an ex boyfriend go through this and become a pilot) The standards are becoming more and more lax for entry level pilots (sadly). I wish we had more ex-Air Force folks on regional carriers but they go where they can make more (long haul). An example of how bad it's getting was a near crash in Lubbock on a CRJ-200 operated by Chautauqua Airlines dba Continental. The pilot bounced the takeoff, and the plane was at the piano bars before really gaining significant altitude. The plane was full, three lap babies, and extra luggage, in other words, it was way overweight and the pilot, who could not have been over 25, made a bad call. -------------------- "There is a level of cowardice lower than that of the conformist: that of the fashionable non-conformist." |
