I hate to burst anyone's "I Hate Bank of America" bubble but just about every bank and credit card company impose these sorts of limits...with debit and credit cards. Its fraud protection at its finest. See, back in the day, people were responsible for the charges accrued when a card was stolen. Now days, the banks and card companies usually offer fraud protection. If that card had been stolen, the bank would have been liable for that $5800 charge. Just about every checking account has daily limits that cannot be exceeded. All the jackass (I call him this because he must live under some sort of rock) had to do was go to the bank and withdraw the funds. Plan ahead for big debit and credit purchases. It's not rocket science.
