Well, Superdelegates can and will do whatever the fuck they want. I don't like it, but that's the way it is. Many will, however, vote with their state. Their jobs may hinge on it.

I do, however, strongly disagree that delegates from Florida and Michigan should count. I disagree with the Dem party stripping of their delegates, but candidates got their names removed from the ballots, declined to campaign there, etc. BASED on that knowledge. To restore their delegates after the fact would be profoundly unfair.

I received this from a friend of mine who is a political activist in Michigan. He sent it to a bunch of party activists, including the Governor of Michigan who is a Clinton supporter. He's kind of in the hot seat now that this email was made public around Michigan.

Many in Michigan feel disenfranchised by the January 15 Primary.



At this time with the race for the nomination in a near deadlock, we believe our Party leaders and elected officials with power should not do what they think is in the best interest of their endorsed candidate or personal gain but do what’s in the best interest of Michigan, the Democratic Party and a more fair process. We believe that the Michigan Democratic Party should move swiftly to organize a caucus to give Michigan Democrats an opportunity to participate in the selection of our party’s nominee. MDP Chair Mark Brewer says we should be open to this possibility. We agree. A caucus will grow our Democratic movement, bring new people into the Democratic Party, force the Dem Presidential Candidates to address Michigan issues, and help remove feelings of disenfranchisement that will haunt us this November in Florida and Michigan .



Currently, Obama and Clinton get no delegates from Michigan . We can do better.



If the Democratic Party expects to win our electoral votes in November they should give Michigan Dems a chance to vote for Obama or Clinton. The MDP has the capacity to hold a caucus. A caucus was held in 2004 (with innovative on-line voting) and in preparation for this year’s process the MDP already has proposed plans that could be implemented through county and district democratic chairs across the state. The MDP preparations for an early caucus gave them the flexibility to hold a caucus on five different dates and the ability to move the date with ease.



History will show who stood up for a fair process and who put personal politics over people.



We commend the 14th Congressional District Democratic Party Organization for urging DNC Chair Howard Dean to work towards a creative solution and to give strong consideration to supporting a caucus vote. Earlier today, the Michigan Young Democrats voted to support a caucus.



At our 2.9.08 meeting we decided to take the following action steps:

1. Call for a Caucus in Michigan! We need to support Michigan Democratic Party leaders who want to hold a Caucus.

2. Write to the Michigan Democratic Party at: 606 Townsend Street, Lansing , MI , 48933. Call the MDP at 517-371-5410. Demand a Caucus. ( We will send out a list of specific MDP and DNC Members to contact soon) Contact all Democratic Elected officials, labor leaders and Party officials.

3. Stand with the 14th Congressional District Democratic Party Organization in urging DNC Chair Howard Dean to support a Caucus
