Ok, I know this is probably a stupid question, but I'm looking for a good Visual Studio alternative on the Mac, preferably one that can run my programs in Mono. I know there's a plugin for XCode, but it apparently hasn't been updated for XCode 3.0.
The reason why I'm looking for this is that I have VS on my MacBook running under VMWare Fusion, but it's a bit of a pain as VS eats up a lot of RAM and processor cycles. Especially when running OS X and Windows at the same time. I like TextMate a lot, but I don't really want to pay $60 for it. There used to be a compiler that would compile the application code to the Intermediate Language, letting you know that it compiled correctly but I can't find it anywhere. Mono seems to be behind the times as far as its implementation and though most functionality is there, I'm not sure you'll find it works for every instance.
