I know we have a plethora of these "I'm buying XXXX, what should I get" threads, so here is one more.

My USB ports on my current laptop are fucked up and can't connect anything, which is a problem. I posted about this but other than "uninstall/reinstall drivers" I didn't get much feedback!

So anyways, that's one of the reasons why I am looking for a new laptop.
Here is what I want:

small/light (my present computer is a Dell 700m)
fast processor
medium hardrive (greater than 160 preferably) but nothing extravagant like a SSD
don't really care about video card
don't care about aesthetics
oh yeah, and a WORKING USB ports
cost less than $1500

other than the USB port fucking up now, I've had no problem with a Dell and was looking at their XPS M1330

any other recommendation/reasons why?

and I swear, if anyone recommends a MacBook Air....

I've always been partial to Toshiba and Sony Vaio for laptops. Sony is known for being overpriced, though, so you will have to shop carefully. Plus, the usually are pretty high-end machines. To be honest, I would probably go with another Dell if you are looking for economy. If not, then definitely Toshiba or Sony
