actually, i think you would go before him.

i don't foresee you having too many skills that you could use to survive without the aid of a stronger more skilled person to aid you.

group/herd mentality will work, but amongst that group, you'd be pretty low on the list. because you won't be able to contribute more than you take... (and yes, i am factoring in the fact you could use sex as a weapon)

you're assuming that you are smarter than the other person. if it's a survival situation, everyone is pretty lean, but you come across this large, obviously more than well fed male, that should set up a red flag that "maybe this guy is a hard ass and i shouldn't fuck with him" odds are, a single male that well fed still would not be alone. so your lean and mean pack is about to be ass raped and eaten by his buddies in ambush waiting for you to take the bait over the ridge.
