So I have a Sony DAV-BC150 5 disc dvd changer with surround sound system. I lost the remote in a move (or someone didn't give it to me when I asked). I love the thing, and I don't want to buy a new surround sound system for a damn remote. Anyways, I looked on Sony's parts thingy and a new remote would cost me $54.53 including shipping. I checked ebay, and it was the same price. I tried buying a cheap universal remote that worked with Sony DVD players, and it woldn't work (my guess is because it's also a surround system). Is there another universal remote that I can buy that might be cheaper than spending $55 or should I just throw down the cash. I haven't had the remote since June, and I'm really sick of not having it. I can't change sound settings or watch special features or anything. HELP! Find me a cheap way out of this one...

Post meant mostly for Impala since he seems to be the home theatre expert these days.

Thanks!

I'm not really sure how the codes would work for a HTIB... A couple things to try with the uni remote if you haven't already:

1. Program the DVD button to a sony code, and walk up and turn on the player and pop a movie in, then see if the remote will play/stop/pause the movie. rinse/repeat for each sony dvd code in the booklet

2. Program the AUX (or may be called "receiver" or "A/V") button to a sony "Receivers/Amps" code from the booklet, then turn on the player, pop in a movie, and see if you can control the volume, and/or turn it off. rinse/repeat for each sony amp code in the booklet.

If neither of those works yeah you're prob SOL, or maybe try ebay. 1-800-remotes ( http://www.remotes.com ) is the standard place the AV junkies go for remote replacements, but it's just the standard prices.
