Going to Austin tomorrow, and I want to show someone a good time. I want cheap though, and I don't want to go to straight bar. 1) the person I'm taking is under 21 and 2) I dont want to go to a bar and be around a bunch of drunk people.
Suggestions?
I was thinking Alamo Drafthouse, but that's kinda lame for someone who has never been to Austin. I need ideas, people. I didn't get to do too much when I lived in Austin, so I know the city well, but I don't know where all the fun things are. Anyone know how to get to Mt. Bonnell (I think that's what it is called) too? I mean, I know its off 360 somewhere, but I dont know how to get there.

If you are wanting to do Mt. Bonnell, it's easier to get to using Mopac (Loop 1).

From downtown, take Mopac north and exit W. 35th. Take a left on West 35th (this will take you over Mopac).

Stay on W. 35th for a few miles and you'll see what looks like a water treatment plant on the right. Right after it is Mt. Bonnell road, take a right. You follow that up and you'll see houses and then cars parked on the left. Park there and walk up.

As far as other things to see, the Texas State History Museum is really cool, the capitol, the moon towers, head to South Congress for some good food and interesting shops, etc.
yay! thanks!
