Basically, you keep your inbox count at 0. I started doing this about a month ago and really, really like it. I have a slightly more elaborate folder setup since I need to keep client e-mails separate but the concept is the same. Here at work I have several different folders and rules set up, but at home I just leave em. /shrug. I use outlook w/gmail and have the setting "leave msgs on server" so if I reformat my comp or anything like that I don't lose all my old mail. I don't get all that much email though really.
